- A kitten had to be euthanized due to extreme trauma in an animal cruelty case, state police said.
Charges are pending against Brandon Sullum, 23, of Honesdale, said Trooper Timothy Walker. The trooper said Monday the misdemeanor charges are expected to be filed this week in district court.
The case involves two domestic short-haired kittens, Mary and Jane, that suffered multiple fractures "over the course of their short life by their owner," a news release states.
Walker said Sullum, who didn't own the kittens but would watch them, would smash them against a wall.
Mary was euthanized. Jane, who had multiple fractures and whose head was the size of a grapefruit after being discovered, is recovering, Walker said, noting the swelling has begun to subside.
The incidents happened between July 28 and Aug. 1 at a residence on Smith Road in Texas Township.
