  •  An inmate serving a sentence in Wayne County for bank robbery will do additional time for stabbing another prisoner, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced.
The sentenced was imposed by Senior U.S. District Court Judge James M. Munley, according to a news release issued Monday afternoon.
Eddie Joe Sutton, 60, an inmate at the U.S. Penitentiary at Canaan, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for stabbing another inmate multiple times with a sharpened weapon and with the intent to commit murder, says the release.
The judge ordered the 15-year term to be served after completion of Sutton's 20-year sentenced for bank robbery, according to U.S. Attorney Peter Smith.
Sutton pleaded guilty to the stabbing on April 15.
Smith said the attack on the victim occurred Nov. 7, 2013.
The victim inmate, who was not identified in the release, survived the attack but suffered numerous stab wounds requiring treatment at a local hospital.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the Special Investigation Section at USP-Canaan.
Assistant U.S. Attorney John Gurganus prosecuted the case.
