  • WAYMART - On Saturday, July 19 at 7:30 p.m. in celebration of their 50th Anniversary, the Pendel Brass & Singers of the Salvation Army will present a concert at the PARC Pavilion at Camp Ladore, 298 Owego Turnpike, Waymart.

A 50th Anniversary double CD, “We’ve Come This Far By Faith,” will be available for purchase.
The members of the Pendel Brass & Singers, who all make the Salvation Army their church home, come from various walks of life in Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware.
These select ensembles include bank employees, secretaries, ministers of religion, music teachers, nurses, as well as high school and college students.
Each member offers their time and musical talents voluntarily to weekly rehearsals and services at their local corps church homes, as well as to monthly Pendel Brass rehearsals and concerts.
The Pendel Brass & Singers have also enjoyed sharing their ministry on tours to southern and western United States, Jamaica, Canada, South America, South Africa, Scandinavia and the United States Virgin Islands.
The mission of The Pendel Brass is to communicate the gospel of Christ.
To this end, the Pendel Brass performs a wide and varied repertoire of stirring marches, sensitive hymn tune settings, classical transcriptions, featured soloists, as well as more developed festival arrangements.
The Pendel Singers enjoy sharing arrangements of familiar hymn and gospel songs, as well as more recent Christian vocal literature.
The prayer of the Pendel Brass is that God will use their ministry for His glory.
The Pendel Brass and Singers are under the direction of Dr. Harold Burgmayer, who has served for over 25 years as the Divisional Music Director for the Salvation Army in Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Division.
Burgmayer holds a bachelor of architecture degree from The Cooper Union and masters and doctor of musical arts in music composition from Temple University.
He has produced over 240 arrangements and compositions in print, particularly with church publishers like The Salvation Army and David E. Smith Publications.
These compositions range from simple children's songs to a symphony for full orchestra.
He has taught as an adjunct instructor at Philadelphia College of Bible and appeared as a guest choral and brass clinician with emphasis given to the training of young singers and instrumentalists.
Instructional materials and numerous articles reflect this initiative.
