- Magnificent, Mischievous Mozart! Is the motto for this summer’s productions, with “Marriage of Figaro,” “The Impresario” and “Abduction from the Seraglio.”

“Figaro” will be performed in cooperation with the New York Opera Studio at SUNY Sullivan and at the Tusten Theatre in Narrowsburg. (SUNY 7/20, Tusten 7/21).

A new version of Impresario will be performed on Aug. 2, 3 & 4 at the Tusten Theatre.

“Impresario” is the story about trials of an opera general manager as he begins auditions for his next season – and is as hilarious and timely as it was when Mozart wrote it.

The DVO version, sung in English and set in modern times, will include Mozart’s two rivaling divas plus other ambitious singers looking for positions in the opera company – creating a sort of concert within an opera.

The Abduction from the Seraglio will crown the season with some of Mozart’s most sparkling music and spectacular vocal challenges.

It is a colorful adventure of a man’s attempt to rescue his beloved from a Turkish harem. (SUNY Sullivan 8/17; Wallenpaupack H.S. 8/18 and Tusten 8/16, 23, 24 & 25)

The Youth Experience, for a second year a two week summer program for children (ages eight to 14) will be offered in partnership; with Bethel Woods for the Performing Arts.

Participants will explore costume, set and prop design, advertising, marketing, composing, singing, dancing, and performing Victor Herbert’s Babes in Toyland.
