The saying “History repeats itself” is one that is becoming all too familiar as the Wayne County Historical Society finds itself once again in the position of conducting a search for an Executive Director. And, as luck would have it, the position is open for the second time in less than a year for the same reason. The current director will be leaving the area to accompany a spouse on a career opportunity, necessitating a significant geographic move. It was just last fall that Interim Director Franziska Zuercher left to join her husband for a career change requiring the family to relocate to Australia. This week, the resignation of current Director Tammy Satter was accepted for the same reason, with a planned move to the Midwest. “It’s a double dose of déjà vu,” says Board President Carol Henry Dunn, “but our Personnel Committee, headed by veteran Director Linda Dix Lee, our entire board, and our staff remain confident that during the time the Director position is vacant, the majority of daily tasks will remain unchanged as staff, board, and volunteers step-up to the responsibilities at hand. At the same time, we remain dedicated to the stated mission and objectives of the Society, and we will continue full throttle with various established programs and activities as well as some ambitious new ones.” Qualified individuals wishing to apply for the Executive Director position should submit their letter of interest, resume, and salary expectations to Linda Dix Lee, Personnel Chair, firstname.lastname@example.org no later than August 31, 2014. Dix Lee may also be contacted by e-mail to request the Executive Director job posting and requirements. The Wayne County Historical Society’s Main Museum is located at 810 Main Street, Honesdale, PA.
