  • This August marks the 45th Anniversary of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair which kicked off on  August 15, 1969. To celebrate the anniversary, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is inviting guests to come "Back To The Field" on Friday, August 15th for a free screening ofWoodstock: The Director’s Cut.  It’s an opportunity to watch the film on the actual site where a half-million young people gathered 45 years ago for the historic festival. The field will open to guests at 7:00pm and the film is scheduled to begin at 8:30pm.
The four-hour Director’s Cut of the 1970 Oscar-winning documentary about the landmark music festival features some of the greatest rock-n-roll performers of all time. It has been described as bringing audiences as close as they can get to the actual festival. The movie, combined with the magic that continues to permeate the site, will provide guests with a compelling way to celebrate this historic anniversary.
The Museum at Bethel Woods preserves and interprets the legacy of the decade of the sixties and its culminating event, the Woodstock festival.  “We’re very excited about the Back To The Field event as it will provide a fun and unique way for individuals of all ages to participate in the history of our site. We think it will be a very fitting tribute to this historic anniversary.” said Darlene Fedun, Chief Executive Officer.
Admission to the event is free, but a $5.00 per person donation is encouraged to benefit the preservation of the historic Woodstock festival site.
In addition to the film screening, several other Bethel Woods summer programs will commemorate Woodstock’s 45th anniversary. John Fogerty, a founding member of Creedence Clearwater Revival, will perform on August 8th, marking his return to the legendary site for the first time since 1969. Additionally, students from the Paul Green Rock Academy, the latest educational venture from School of Rock founder Paul Green, will perform a Tribute to Woodstock with a selection of iconic Woodstock songs in The Event Gallery on August 3rd. This performance is free to the public.
