HAWLEY - The Wayne County Builders Association (WCBA) has hired Nicole Sanchez as the executive director.

Sanchez said she was happy to take the position and thanked the board of directors for the opportunity to serve the WCBA association.

"I have admired their accomplishments in the community and for our members, now I am fortunate to be able to focus on the continued success of our association," said Sanchez, a Greentown resident who has been a member of the WCBA for over a year.

Sanchez replaces Laurie Lourie, who resigned as the association's executive officer earlier this month.

In 2011 Sanchez established an interior design firm, NS Designs LLC, specializing in remodels, project managing, color scheme development, space and floor planning, finishing selection and window treatments.

NS Designs developed a loyal clientele serving the areas of northeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York, according to a news release.

Maria Coutts, president of the WCBA, said, "I know that Nicole will do an excellent job meeting the needs of our members here in Wayne County. As a member herself, she understands many of the issues affecting the building industry and is passionate about carrying forward our mission of being the preferred trusted resource for consumers in our community."

Lourie, executive officer for York Builders Association, said Sanchez will be an asset to the association as "she is highly motivated and passionate about providing quality services to the members."

Lourie added, "It will be a pleasure working alongside Nicole at state and national events."

The WCBA is a non-profit association consisting of more than 170 members in the construction industry and is affiliated with the Pennsylvania Builder Association and the National Association of Home Builders.

The association's membership is comprised of home builders, remodelers, subcontractors (plumbers, electricians), manufacturers and financial institutions, among others.

WCBA provides advocacy, support and growth opportunities for professionals in the building industry.
