TEXAS TWP. - A township resident is looking to establish a private kennel for German short-haired pointers, he told the board of supervisors at their recent meeting.
Paul Brooks is looking to create a 30-by-12 foot kennel on the property off Bear Swamp Road.
Brooks said he produces one two two litters a year. The number of dogs in a breed depends on several factors.
Brooks said it would not be a commercial property. He said he already has five kennels in the existing building.
Board of Supervisors Chairman Don Doney said letters would have to be sent to neighbors letting them know of the operation.
Otherwise, council had no objections.
In other businesses, Supervisor Al Wickle said barriers have been put in place at the Old Willow Avenue Bridge.
Concrete barriers were placed on both sides of the two-lane bridge to protect the parapets and make the span one-way.
The bridge, off Route 6 near the Halfway House Restaurant, is almost 100 years old.
The bridge needs to be repaired and the supervisors have resubmitted a grant.
The supervisors also said cinders were cleared near Walmart and a mudslide was cleaned up on Old State Road.
