The Wayne County Creative Arts Council is pleased to present Doug Rogers and the Backseat Drivers (formerly known as Hoy Polloy) on Monday, July 7th at 7:30pm in Honesdale’s Central Park. Doug Rogers plays accordion and guitar, Chip Forelli the upright and electric bass, Marc Switko the drums and Chris Karson the lead guitar. They perform mostly original songs with a country western flavor. On June 28 they played at Jalopy in Brooklyn; upcoming on July 26 at Callicoon Park and July 27 at River Fest in Narrowsburg. WCCAC is pleased to bring back an area favorite on Thursday, July 10th. Lead singer Phyllis Pitch and her husband started their band 22 years ago in Scranton. Traditional country music tunes were new to the area at that time, but they kept on persevering and their music became popular. Phyllis does vocals, Pat Fino plays bass, Jim Hindmarch rolls the drums and Gerard Drury plays pedal/steel guitar. You’ll hear old traditional tunes all made new by younger artists like Brad Paisley, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride. As always, WCCAC will have their refreshment stand behind the stage. The rain location will be the Episcopal Parish House also behind the stage. The concert is free: however a free will donation will be collected during the evening.
