You are cordially invited to view an exhibition of paintings created by Carolyn Santiso and Elaine Sopko from June 1-28 at the Davis Chant Gallery, 631 Route 739. An artists reception will take place on June 7 from 5-7 p.m.
Carolyn began her art hobby after retiring from The University of Scranton. Her art instruction includes classes at the Wayne County Arts Alliance, the Pocono Arts Alliance, Northampton College and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia.
She paints landscapes and florals en plein air and from photographs in oil pastel. She has exhibited in group art shows and recently was selected for a juried exhibit at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
Carolyn, the mother of four grown children, resides with her husband in Hamlin.
Elaine is an award winning portrait artist and painter of the natural world. The artist’s impressionistic style of painting has evolved through extensive training and the practical experience of more than 35 years of portrait, floral, and plein air painting.
A graduate of Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts and Thomas Edison College, Elaine taught drawing, painting, and portrait painting.
She is a member of the Pocono Arts Council and the Pocono Mountain Arts Council as well as the Come Paint With Me plein air painters. Elaine has exhibited extensively in Pennsylvania and in New Jersey.
Several of her commissioned portraits are on display in public venues in this country and in Italy.
