  • OREGON TWP. - A 61-year-old township man has been accused of raping a boy over a three-year period, state police said.
Eugene R. Price of Price Lane, off Carley Brook Road, is charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and aggravated indecent assault.
Price was arraigned before District Judge Ronald Edwards and placed in the Wayne County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail. He's scheduled to appear in Central Court in Honesdale on May 28.
Police said Price sexually assaulted the boy between 2007 and 2010, when the alleged victim was between nine and 12.
According to an arrest affidavit filed May 22:
Trooper John Decker was contacted May 15 by Wayne County Children and Youth Services. A 15-year-old boy said Price had sexually assaulted him on at least six occasions.
The victim had told Children and Youth that he "did want to tell about what had happened to him, but that he was very tired and just wanted to go home and rest for a while," police said
Decker met with the boy on May 19.
The boy told police that in 2007 he would visit his aunt's house and that "Gene" was initially very nice to him.
Price would wait until he was alone with the boy, and would ask him to put on a blindfold. Price would then rape him, causing him to bleed.
The alleged victim told police that after such incidents Price would threaten him
According to police, Price told the boy if he told anyone about the assaults Price would kill his pets and hurt his family and friends.
The boy told police he was very frightened and knew that Price had a "bad temper" so he never said anything until he eventually told a therapist.
The alleged assaults happened in a house pantry with a window, so Price could see if anyone pulled into the driveway.
When the alleged victim was 12 he told Price he would no longer go the pantry to be assaulted. Shortly after the boy stopped going to the house.
The alleged victim's mother also told police her son would go to Price's house on a "somewhat regular basis" between 2007 and 2010.
