HONESDALE - After a successful market season, the winter edition of The Cooperage Farmer’s Market came to a close on Saturday, April 12.

The Cooperage will be giving the farmer’s a month off between winter and summer market seasons to allow them time to get their crops ready.

The gates will reopen on Wednesday, May 14 at 1030 Main Street in Honesdale to kick off the seventh season of the summer farmer’s market. The summer market will be open between the hours of 4 to 6 p.m.

The winter market was bursting at its’ seams this year with vendors.

“We felt there was a perfect combination of new producers and veteran market vendors.” says Pennell Whitney, Board Member at The Cooperage Project. “The combination of new and old faces ensures that the market has a solid foundation while keeping things fresh and new.”

Each week during the winter, there was a variety fresh produce, meats, breads, baked goods, candy, mustards, jellies, mushroom logs, soaps and teas, just to name a few.

You can expect to see these products continue through the summer, in addition to new products as well.

Stay tuned and visit The Cooperage on May 14 to check out the new vendors.

New to the winter season was the addition of a rotating “artisan” vendor. Each week, The Cooperage featured a local artist or craftsperson selling their handmade wares.

Due to its’ success, the rotating artisan vendor will continue through the summer as well.

Also returning this season is The Market Café. Shoppers can pick up a delicious and nutritious, farm to table meal featuring seasonal and local products.

Vendors at The Cooperage Farmers’ Market must be located within a 50 mile radius of Honesdale meaning that all products are grown within our own region.

Additionally, this is a producer-only affair; all vendors must grow their own fruits and vegetables, raise their own livestock, or prepare their own specialty goods.

The summer market will reopen Wednesday, May 14 and run every Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. through Oct. 29.
