HONESDALE - The Wayne Highlands School District Board of Directors voted to delay a potential capital project for the renovation and security entrance at the office of the high school's main entrance.
"We are not going to go into anything hastily," Superintendent Gregory Frigoletto said at the board meeting Monday night.
The superintendent said the district wants to be cautious so the work is done right.
Frigoletto said the district was going to pursue the project this summer, but it will be pushed forward to 2015.
"Time was not on our side," he said, adding that the district wants to err on the side of caution.
The work would involve a secure vestibule entrance and the reorganization and renovation to accommodate the vestibule.
The district is working with Highland Associates of Clarks Summit.
Also at the meeting, the board accepted the resignation of Lisa A. Zielinski, effective at the end of the year. She was with the district for 15 years.
The board also approved the hiring a full-time custodian, Scott Figura, at Preston Area School. It was unclear what his salary will be.
In addition, the board approved a request by Frigoletto for pre-approval to seek bids for fuel oil for the schools.
At the close of the meeting the board adjourned into an executive session regarding personnel but took no action.
In other business, according to the minutes of the March meeting, the board unanimously adopted a resolution indicating the district's intent to issue a series of general obligation notes, series of 2014 (refinance of 2007AA plus new money) in the aggregate principal amount not to exceed $11,650,000.
Board members also unanimously adopted a resolution indicating the district's intent to issue a series of general obligation bonds, series of 2014A, in the aggregate principal amount not to exceed $6,075,000.
