NARROWSBURG, NY-“Natural Selection[s],” a curated group exhibition featuring art works inspired by the natural world, opens at the Delaware Arts Center’s Alliance Gallery on Saturday, Jan. 25, with a reception from 2 - 4 p.m.
The exhibit will be on view through Feb. 15.
From a photograph of reflections in water by Beth Baylin to an oil painting of candy-colored “Fantastic Flowers” by Charles Farless, to a winged sculpture made of animal bones by Denis Yanashot, this exhibition includes a wide variety of artworks all influenced by nature.
The exhibition includes an exciting assortment of mediums by 12 artists from throughout New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. All the artists were chosen from applicants to DVAA’s 2014 Alliance Gallery program.
“As gallery director, I am in the unique position of being able to see a wide variety of fresh, new work by many of our area’s talented artists,” says Rocky Pinciotti, director of the Alliance Gallery. “Each January, a visual theme ultimately evolves from the gallery submissions. This year there was a lively conversation of beauty, abstraction, and focus on the many parts of the natural world. It became clear that these selected works should be exhibited together.”
The exhibition will feature works by Beth Baylin, Jerry Cohen, Erin Dinan, Charles Farless, William Kooistra, Susan Miiller, Cindy Shechter, Ellen Silberlicht, David Soete, Carla Strozzieri, Alan Wood, and Denis Yanashot.
Free and open to the public, the exhibit is sponsored by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Arts Council for Sullivan County, NY, and is made possible in part by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
Alliance Gallery is located at the Delaware Arts Center at 37 Main Street, Narrowsburg, NY. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
