  • -On Jan. 10 around 9:30 p.m. Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Honesdale were called to a residence on Watts Hill Road in Dyberry Township after a report of “a violent crime being committed,” according to a report. Between 20 and 30 police officers swarmed the residence of Doug Stinnard, including officers from PSP Dunmore for the incident that is considered “swatting.” Swatting is a term for “someone pulling a prank on someone to encourage a SWAT team response” or a “very heavy police response.” PSP Honesdale said it is usually in a high stress situation, like a hostage situation for example. PSP investigated the incident and the alarm was “determined to be false.” The investigation is still taking place.
