  • Region-Just in time for the bitter cold weather, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is accepting applications for crisis grants.
Crisis grants are available to qualified residents who are in an emergency situation and about to lose their heat.
This may include having broken heating equipment or leaking lines that must be fixed or replaced, lack of fuel, termination of utility service or being in danger due to a dwindling fuel supply and getting a notice of utility service termination.
Assistance with home heating crisis situations is available 24 hours a day. LIHEAP also offers cash grants to help pay heating bills. Income eligibility for LIHEAP benefits is based on federal poverty guidelines.
