Discussions regarding a tax anticipation note for 2014 took place at the recent meeting of the Wayne County Commissioners. Business manager John Haggerty said they need the tax anticipation note for January and February “to facilitate funds” until revenue starts coming in for 2014. During the meeting he made a request to get interest rate quotes with a “maximum $2 million line of credit.” “This is standard for us to do each year,” said Commissioner Wendall Kay. The commissioners approved letting Haggerty get quotes. Other business The resignation of Edward Kellogg in the IT department was accepted. He worked with information technology management systems. The resignation is effective Dec. 20. • The resignation of part time corrections officer Nicholas Wilczewski was accepted. It was effective Dec. 13. • A letter from Judge Raymond Hamill was read regarding the magisterial redistricting. In the letter he stated the clerk position will be terminated as of Dec. 31 “due to the redistricting.” • A 2013-14 grant application to Pcorp was approved. The grant will help with safety improvements (i.e. if sidewalks need to be repaired) and can also be used for improving plans, training, seminars, etc. The amount requested is $12,305. Chief clerk Vicky Botjer said Pcorp will be matching. The total grant would be $24,610. • Pioneer Construction was awarded the bid for the sewage grinder project at the Wayne County Correctional Facility. Their bid was $82,000. • John Nebzydoski was hired as a caseworker I for the Behavioral and Developmental Program/Early Intervention (BDP/EI), 33C, for 37.5 hours a week at a salary of $29,342.92, effective Dec. 30. Botjer said because he has a master's degree it gives him a 33C scale. • The following people were hired as part time corrections officers at the Wayne County Correctional Facility at a rate of $12.01 per hour, effective Dec. 30: Timothy Rothwell, Damascus; Ralph Rodriguez, Bethany; Steven Lidstone, Waymart; and Karly Gelatt, Honesdale. • During the Dec. 19 meeting the county will be adopting the 2014 budget. • The courthouse will close at noon on Dec. 24.
