HONESDALE - The choir of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Honesdale invites everyone to attend a Christmas concert featuring the music of John Rutter. The concert will take place in the church this coming Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. Rutter is well known worldwide as a composer, conductor, and musical arranger who specializes in choral works. The concert will be dedicated in memory of Frank Williams, the choir’s assistant director, who passed away this year. The concert will feature favorite Christmas carols in arrangements by Rutter, including “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World,” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” Other songs are original compositions with words and music by Rutter, such as “Jesus Child,” “Angels’ Carol,” and “I Wish You Christmas.” The concert will be directed by John Propeack. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Theresa Gumble on organ and piano, Jerry Swendsen on bass, and John Gardas on drums. There is no admission fee for the concert. The church is located at 150 Terrace St., Honesdale.
