  • The December students of the month at Western Wayne High School have been announced. They are Michaela Killian and Caleigh Wildenstein.

  • The December students of the month at Western Wayne High School have been announced. They are Michaela Killian and Caleigh Wildenstein. Killian, daughter of Marianne and Robert Killian of Lake Ariel, was named an outstanding senior for December. A National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society member, her academic schedule includes numerous honors and Advanced Placement courses in English, history, and the sciences. Killian was also named an “Arts for All Seasons” artist in the Scranton Times recently. Other extracurricular activities include track and cross country and Students Against Destructive Decisions. She has participated in The Nutcracker for 15 years and has been a volunteer for the Scranton Marathon and the local food pantry. She plans to major in nursing at a four-year university. Wildensetein, the daughter of Lawrence and Leighann Wildenstein of Forest City, also an outstanding senior in December, has been a member of the Principal's List for four years. A three-year member of the National Honor Society, she is Western Wayne's Scholar of the Year and a member of the Scholastic Team. She has been a state qualifier for both FBLA and TSA. A four-year member of the soccer team, Wildenstein was captain this year and is a four-year member of the basketball team. She also lifts weights. In addition to volunteering in the community through her National Honor Society activities, she has coached U-6 soccer and helped with the Commissioners' Basketball Camp. Wildenstein plans to major in English at a four-year university and then attend law school.
