  • The following cases were addressed by the Raymond L. Hamill, President Judge, Wayne County: RICKER GOULD, age 22, of Philadelphia, PA was sentenced to a State Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 23 months nor more than 96 months for one count of Statutory Sexual Assault, graded as a Felony of the 2nd Degree, two counts of Sell/Furnish Liquor, Malt, Brewed Beverage to Minors, graded as Misdemeanors of the 3rd Degree, and one count of Endangering Welfare of Children: As Parent/Guardian, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 1st Degree. He was also ordered to pay all court costs, pay for victim counseling not to exceed $20,000, pay a fine in the amount of $2,000, and submit to the drawing of a DNA sample and pay $250 for the cost of the sample. The incident occurred between July 1, 2012, and July 27, 2013, in Preston Township when Gould sexually assaulted a minor female camper while employed as a counselor at Independent Lake Camp. Gould also encouraged and facilitated sexual contact between another camp counselor and a second minor. JEREMY J. BOX, age 28, of Honesdale, was sentenced to a State Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 10 years nor more than 20 years for one count of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, graded as a Felony of the 1st Degree. He was also ordered to pay all court costs. The incident occurred between December 1, 2011, and December 31, 2011, in Damascus Township when Box had indecent contact with a minor male. CAROLINE FALCO, age 20, of Lake Ariel, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 45 days nor more than 23 months for one count of Corruption of Minors (Related to Sexual Offenses), graded as a Felony of the 3rd Degree. She was also ordered to pay all court costs, have no contact with the victim in this matter, have no unsupervised contact with any person under the age of 18, undergo a sex offender evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, undergo a mental health evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, submit to the drawing of a DNA sample and pay $250 for the cost of the sample and obtain full time employment upon being released from prison. The incident occurred between January 20, 2013, and February 5, 2013, in Paupack Township when Falco had indecent contact with a minor male. RYAN T. CAFFERTY, age 25, of Waymart, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 7 months nor more than 18 months for one count of Possession of Controlled Substance and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia both ungraded Misdemeanors. He was also ordered to pay all court costs, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, and obtain full time employment upon being released from prison. The incident occurred on July 1, 2013, in Waymart Borough when Cafferty was found to be in possession of Marijuana, a digital scale, and $1,045 in cash. ALAN D. BURDICK, age 43 of Waymart, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 72 hours nor more than 6 months for one count of DUI-Cont Sub-Impaired Ability/1st Offense, an ungraded Misdemeanor. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $1,000, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, attend and complete an alcohol highway safety program and continue with mental health treatment. The incident occurred on April 19, 2013, in Clinton Township when Pennsylvania State Police were called to investigate the report of a one vehicle crash. At that time Burdick was under the influence of Alprazolam. CHRISTOPHER DAVIS, age 19. of Honesale, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 5 days nor more than 6 months for one count of DUI (Minor), an ungraded Misdemeanor. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $500, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, attend and complete an alcohol highway safety program, perform 50 hours community service, and obtain full time employment upon being released from prison. DAVID SCOTT MILLER, age 34 of Hawley, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 6 months nor more than 23 months for one count of Delivery of Heroin, an ungraded Felony. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, perform 50 hours of community service, submit to the drawing of a DNA sample and pay $250 for the cost of the sample and undergo a mental health evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment. The incident occurred on December 7, 2012, in Hawley Borough when Miller delivered Heroin. KEVIN RONALD DAVIS, age 35 of Gouldsboro, PA was placed on probation for a period of 24 months for one count of Makes Any Materially False Written Statement, graded as a Felony of the 3rd Degree. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation together with a mental health evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, and submit to the drawing of a DNA sample and pay $250 for the cost of the sample. The incident occurred on October4 1, 2012, in Lehigh Township when Davis provided false information on an application to purchase a firearm. EDWARD CUFF, age 42, of Hawley, PA was placed on the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for a period of 6 months related to Boating Under the Influence of Alcohol, an ungraded Misdemeanor. He was also ordered to pay all court costs and perform 40 hours of community service. The incident occurred on June 29, 2013, in Paupack Township. Cuff’s BAC was .242%. CRAIG FISCHER, age 50, of Canadensis, PA was placed on the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for a period of 6 months related to DUI. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, perform 40 hours of community service, attend and complete an alcohol highway safety program, and have his operator’s license suspended for a period of 60 days. The incident occurred on May 17, 2013, in Hawley Borough when Hawley Borough Police observed Fischer driving in an erratic manner. His BAC was .177%. JAY K. HOSTETLER, age 54, of Milanville, PA was placed on the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for a period of 6 months related to DUI. He was also ordered to pay all court costs, perform 40 hours of community service, and attend and complete an alcohol highway safety program. The incident occurred on July 6, 2013, in Berlin Township when Pennsylvania State Police observed Hostetler traveling at a high rate of speed. His BAC was .092%. IAN WILLIAMS, age 28 of Gouldsboro, PA was placed on the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for a period of 6 months related to Possession of Marijuana. He was also ordered to pay all court costs and perform 40 hours of community service. The incident occurred on April 13, 2013, in Lehigh Township when Williams was found to be in possession of Marijuana. BRYAN HURST, age 27, of Equinunk, PA was placed on the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for a period of 6 months related to DUI. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, perform 40 hours of community service, attend and complete an alcohol highway safety program and have his operator’s license suspended for a period of 60 days. The incident occurred on September 14, 2013, in Damascus Township when Pennsylvania State Police observed Hurst stopped along a roadway. His BAC was .195%. ALLEN CANGAS, age 27, of Greentown, PA pled guilty to one count of Theft By Unlawful Taking or Disposition, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 1st Degree. The incident occurred on November 19, 2012, in Salem Township when Cangas stole a chainsaw from a private residence. He is scheduled to be sentenced on January 30, 2014. HELENA SOBERAL, age 19, of Dingman’s Ferry, PA pled guilty to one count of Retail Theft-Take Merchandise, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 2nd Degree. The incident occurred on August 12, 2013, in Texas Township when stole several items from a local department store. She is scheduled to be sentenced on January 9, 2014. DAVID MARTIN, JR, age 42 ,of Honesdale, PA pled guilty to one count of Simple Assault, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 2nd Degree. The incident occurred on September 10, 2013, in Honesdale Borough when Martin punched a female victim. He is scheduled to be sentenced on January 9, 2014.
