  • The 15th annual Hawley Winterfest will offer festive, old-fashioned winter events for the holiday season in historic town December 6-8.
Hawley Winterfest is one of the biggest holiday festivals in the area and is known for its Victorian themed events and activities. While most of the events appeal to both adults and children, there are a few that are more adult friendly and others that children will especially love.
Adults will enjoy activities such as the Beer Tour, the Wine and Cheese Reception at the Potting Shed, the Winterfest Brunch at Settlers Inn and an open house at the new Dorflinger Factory Museum in White Mills along with the Glassworker's House that features Victorian-era holiday decorations. There will be various art exhibits and shows around town as well as live music in the evening at restaurants and other venues.
Children will like the Create a Holiday Card at the Hawley Library, Meet the (Ski Big) Bear Photo Op (look for the Bear strolling through town), and Breakfast with Santa at the Boathouse Restaurant and more.
People of all ages can participate in most of the events. Some fun events for the entire family include the Enchanted Christmas at Bingham Park with a bonfire, tree lighting ceremony, pictures with Santa and carolers. There is the 12th Annual Cookie Walk and Victorian luncheon at the First Presbyterian Church, ice sculpting demonstrations, towed tube rides by Ski Big Bear in Bingham Park, the horse and carriage rides at Miss Elly's Antiques and Such, author book signings at the Hawley Library's Soup is on at the library, cider and sweets by the "Fire" at Teeter's Furniture, the annual holiday musical at the Ritz Company Playhouse, Energy on Display: Preparing for the Holidays at the PPL Environmental Learning Center where people can learn about this history, construction and management of Lake Wallenpaupack. People will also learn decorating tips to improve the energy efficiency and safety at home. There will be children's activities and warm refreshments, The road to Bethlehem living nativity at the Hawley Methodist Church, a variety of holiday concerts, church tours and open houses and much more.
To get around town, people can hop aboard the free Winterfest Shuttles, which will make seven stops from one end of Hawley to the other on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The shuttle will come by each stop approximately every 15 minutes. The stops are listed in the Winterfest brochure.
