  • WHITE MILLS - The Dorflinger Glass Museum and Gift Shop at the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary will be open Saturday, Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. with no admission fee. This will be the last chance to see the 2013 special exhibit, “Lighting the Way: Dorflinger Oil Lamps.” Highlighting the exhibit is a Belmont pattern banquet lamp gifted to the museum in 2013 by Jean Wilson in memory of her husband, Jim. Visitors can also take advantage of the annual end of season sale in the gift shop. Everything in the shop is 20 percent off (excluding books and previously discounted items). Proceeds from gift shop sales support the operation of the museum. The restored 1867 Glassworker’s House, operated by the museum, also offers free admission over the weekend. It will be open from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The holiday theme at the worker’s house will feature a Victorian-decorated tree and a display of antique push-and-pull toys and nodders, which are toys with balanced heads or tails. Docents will be on hand. The house is located about one-half mile away from the museum, on Charles Street, in the village of White Mills. The village of White Mills lies halfway between Hawley and Honesdale on Route 6. At the blinking light adjacent to the White Mills Hotel in White Mills, turn and go up the steep hill (Elizabeth Street) for 6/10 of a mile to the stop sign at a second blinking light. Continue on for 1/10 of a mile to the entrance of the Sanctuary on your right. For additional information please call 570-253-1185 or on the internet at www.dorflinger.org.
