  • BEACH LAKE — This year's annual Wayne County Area on Aging Advisory Council luncheon was held at Trail's End Retreat and Conference Center in Beach Lake.
    Distinguished guests included Senator Lisa Baker, State Representative Sandra Major, Jill Gamboni, representing State Representative Mike Peifer, Wayne County Commissioner Brian Smith, Wayne County Commissioner Wendell Kay, Chief Clerk Vicky Botjer, and Coroner Edward Howell.
    It was a beautiful fall day in Wayne County. Following introductions and a delicious meal the guests were entertained by Brian and Wyman Smith. Everyone enjoyed their afternoon.
    Statistics from the fiscal year July 2012- June 2013 were given to all in the Senior Yearbook. The yearbook also highlighted programs and photos from the last fiscal year.
    A few of the statistics include
    • 63,206 meals were prepared for the home delivered meal program and 22,715 congregate meals were served
    • 432 consumers received assistance with property tax/rent rebates
    • 491 assessments were completed by care management
    • 303 active care managed consumers
    • 954 consumer contacts through the APPRISE program
    • 1,002 ADRC Link contacts
    • Over 3,070 consumers received assistance from the food pantry program
    • 11,918.75 volunteer hours through Wayne County Human Services
    • 179 consumers took the AARP driver training.
