Sydney Laabs was elected Friday night as the new 2013 Homecoming Queen for Honesdale High School.
She was crowned by Wayne Highlands School District Superintendent Gregory Frigoletto. The crowning took place during the halftime festivities with a capacity crowd.
When announced, Ms. Laabs received a thunderous applause from the crowd. The football game was held between the Honesdale Hornets and the Lakeland Chiefs. Honesdale won 47-14.
Laabs is the daughter of Pete and Linda Tonetti and the Late Brett Laabs.
She was escorted by her parents and Alex Jachens.
Sydney is involved with the girls basketball team, Dyberry Day Camp and is a member of the Fair Hill Farm Riding Academy.
Sydney's plans after graduation are to find a job and take some college classes.
