Over the past few months excitement has been building for a new business coming to the area. The wait is finally over and Peebles is officially open.
On Thursday morning a grand opening ceremony was held and many were there, ready to see what the store had to offer.
Peebles is located at 650 Old Willow Avenue in the Route 6 Plaza, where Fashion Bug used to be. Customers are expected to find that Peebles brings "style, value and national brands together with exceptional customer service to create an exciting store."
Doors opened at 9 a.m. after the ribbon cutting, but people were lining up as early as 7:45 a.m.
Along with customers, the ribbon cutting was attended by local officials such as Commissioners Wendall Kay and Jonathan Fritz, Texas Township Supervisors Don Doney and Alan Wickle and several members of the Greater Honesdale Partnership and the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce. The District Manager for Peebles, Kathy Francis, was also in attendance. The store manager for the Honesdale location is Lisa Daniels.
There will be a live radio remote with Sunny 105 today with games and giveaways for the entire family. Customers will find a 20 percent off shopping pass in their newspaper or mailbox to use on all purchases during the grand opening celebration, Oct. 17-20.
Peebles also offers money saving coupons via text. Simply text GRAND to 38228 and customers will have coupons sent right to their phones. Shopper reward programs such as a membership discount for customers 50 and over, military discount and a Premier Rewards credit card will also be available at the new Peebles.
"Honesdale shoppers deserve a hometown store that delivers exciting fashion brands and well known national brands at great prices. Peebles is that store," said Michael Glazer, president and CEO of Stage Stores Inc., the parent company of Peebles.
Glazer added that the new Peebles will offer great values on clothing, cosmetics and accessories for the entire family.
