  • — The 8th annual Wing & Chili Taste-off is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 13 in conjunction with the Greater Honesdale Partnership’s Harvest & Heritage Days which this year is sponsored by Wayne Bank, with support from Wayne County Tourism.
    Seven competitors will challenge each other to see who has the best wing or chili recipe. Participating this year are: Branning Podiatry who will be serving their “Knock Your Socks Off” chili; First Alarm Security with their “Smokey Roasted Garlic Parm” wings; VFW Post 531 who will be presenting “Air Force Angel Wings” and “Combat Chili”; Hose Co. #1a with their “Fire & Smoke Showing” chili; Hose Co. #1b and their “Smokey the Bear” wings; and the Honesdale Rotary Club will be offering up some Heritage Chili . Last but not least, MB’s Shear Expressions will attempt to take your votes with their “Expressions” chili.
    The tasting will be open to the public beginning at noon. Wing contestants are required to bring 300 wings, and will be selling them to tasters one wing per taste at 50 cents each. Chili contestants are required to have five-gallons of their chili and will sell three-ounce tastes for $1 per taste. The contest will run until 3 p.m. or until the contestants sell out their samplings.
    Everyone is invited to come and enjoy all the festivities Harvest & Heritage Days has to offer on both Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct. 13.

    Harvest & Heritage Days Open Mic
    The Cooperage Project, located at 1030 Main Street in Honesdale, will be holding an “Open Mic in The Pocket Park” on Saturday, Oct. 12, in conjunction with Honesdale’s Harvest & Heritage Days.
    You’re invited to stop by The Cooperage’s pocket park between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and join The Crackers for a good time. Bring your instruments and your best vocals.
    Later that Saturday, you’re also invited to attend The Cooperage Project’s Contra Dance, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Live music by The Ragtag Rutabagas and Caller Laurie B.
