On Saturday, Oct. 12 there will be a Purdytown Cemetery re-dedication at 9:30 a.m. with a rain date of Oct. 26.
This was the cemetery that was removed from the Pike County side at the bottom of the proposed Lake Wallenpaupack to the Wayne County side, Paupack Township.
For many months there have been between five and seven volunteers from the Wallenpaupack Historical Society building a stone wall surrounding the grave side with tombstones dating back to the Revolutionary War. DAR, local officials, donors, PPL, clergy and other dignitaries will be at the ceremony.
A historical plaque is in the making, as well.
