Free radicals are organic atoms or molecules that have an unpaired electron in their outer cellular ring, which can be factors with stress, lack of sleep, a poor diet, UV radiation, exercise and pollution. They can also affect oxidation and inflammation.

"The only thing that can reverse these effects are antioxidants," he said. "Fruits and vegetables are the best place to get antioxidants. Let your food be your medicine and let you medicine be your food."

He added that if you can get the right nutrition and good sleep, your body will "literally heal itself."

"It's not about changing your habits, but introducing a new one to get 10-12 servings," Disalvatore stated.

When first being introduced to MonaVie there is a free screening that can be done to see how many antioxidants are in your body.

You place your finger in a small machine and after a few seconds it can give you an idea of where you are at through a "light reflection" of the skin. The levels are color-coded, with red and yellow being the lowest and blue, green and purple being the highest.

The "average American" is orange. The darker the color you get, the more antioxidants you have.

According to MonaVie only "one percent" are in the purple category and "around 94 percent" are lacking antioxidants.

MonaVie is providing consumers with a 60 day challenge. After getting screened and they use the product twice a day, they can get scanned again after the 60 days are up. If there is no improvement with the level of antioxidants, then the consumer will get their money back.

"So far nobody has gotten their money back," said Disalvatore, "which shows us that it's working. We aren't making any claims that can cure cancer or anything, but with the success stories we know people are getting good nutrition from the products."

He added that that they are "excited about it," because they are seeing good results.
