  • - The 5th annual Baer Harley-Davidson Victory “Ride for the Cure” Multiple Sclerosis Poker Run was held recently in this region.
Hundreds of motorcycles gathered for a spectacular run through the tri-state area sponsored by Baer Harley-Davidson Victory Polaris, Jim & Sophia Sisco, Winding Roads Victory Riders Motorcycle Club and Harmony Lodge #8.
Sign-up was in two locations at Baer in Honesdale and at Harmony Lodge #8 in Andover Township, N.J.
The ride ended at the beautiful facility of Airport Park in Matamoras.
For those of you who are not familiar with a Poker Run, route directions are given at the sign-in where you also pick your first poker card.
A second, third and fourth card are all picked up and recorded on your tally sheet at each of the designated stops along the route.
The final fifth card is picked up at the last stop at the end of the ride (Airport Park) thus completing your poker hand.
Trophies and a cash prize were awarded for the top three poker hands.
All participants then enjoyed a wonderful meal provided by Prime Time Meats from Milford, live music by Big Boss Sausage, vendors, raffles and a 50/50.
The winning raffle ticket was drawn for the 2013 Polaris Ranger 400. The winner was Kirk Matoushek from Simpson.
A special thank you goes out to all who helped make the “Ride for the Cure” for Multiple Sclerosis such a huge success culminating in an amazing $18,500 donation.
The event couldn’t have happened without a substantial donation from Everett and Patty Abicht, the tremendous efforts by Jim and Sophia Sisco in collecting monetary and gift basket donations and for all of the help and participation from the Honesdale Harley Riders/H.O.G. Chapter.
Next year’s event will be held on June 22, 2014.
