With the support of the generous Wayne County community last year, the United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties’ Fund Distribution Committee—comprised entirely of volunteers — recently awarded $54,125 in grant monies to 15 agencies in the Wayne County area that supply critical services to the community and $4,657 additionally in donor designated funds to area agencies.
Additionally, the United Way leveraged another $86,865 for numerous special initiatives designed to help Wayne County families with the building blocks for a good life: education, income, health and meeting basic needs.
The total of Untied Way funds and in-kind gifts in Wayne County last year was more than $145,000.
This year’s 15 grant recipient agencies and their supported programs will be acknowledged at this year’s kickoff event, and the current year’s fundraising goal will be announced.
