- On Thursday, Sept. 12 Pocono Raceway is teaming up with the American Red Cross to host their Eighth Annual Blood Drive in remembrance of those impacted by the tragic events of Sept. 11.
Pocono Raceway will also sponsor 20 satellite blood drives across Eastern Pennsylvania on Sept. 12-13.
As a thank you to those who support this remembrance blood drive, Pocono Raceway is giving all presenting donors (regardless of location) the chance to win a “Fantasy Race Package.”
The winner will receive four Terrace Club seats and will meet all the NASCAR drivers, on stage, during the opening ceremony of the 2014 GoBowling.com 400. There will also be other exciting give-a-ways, including race tickets and Sunoco gas cards.
Everyone who attends the event may take a ride around the Pocono Racetrack with their own vehicle for a $10 donation (per lap). All donations benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Fund.
Blood Donors can participate in the “Ride for the Red” event before donating blood. You do not need to donate blood to participate in the “Ride for the Red.”
To make an appointment to donate blood, please call 1-800-RED CROSS (733-2767) or visit: www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code: POCONO.
Individuals who are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate. Walk-ins are welcome.
