  • Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin announced the following criminal sentences were issued by Pike County President Judge Joseph F. Kameen:
    Karim Charles Brown, age 26, of Liberty, N.Y. was sentenced to the Pike County Correctional Facility for 10 days to 12 months, and ordered to pay a fine of $800, for the crimes of Possessing Instruments of Crime, and Retail Theft.
    On January 17, 2013, Brown was observed stealing from Wal Mart and K Mart in Westfall Township. Brown was found in possession of a box cutter, a speaker stolen from K Mart valued at $19.99, and a phone stolen from Wal Mart valued at $129.88.
    Michael J. Haas, age 61, of Greeley, was sentenced to the Pike County Correctional Facility for 2 months and 72 hours to 22 months, and ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, for the crimes of Simple Assault, Driving Under the Influence and Reckless Driving.
    On January 29, 2013, Haas struck the victim with his pick-up truck, and then fled the scene, driving under the influence.
    Brian D. Hambrick, age 43, of Monroe, N.Y. was sentenced to the Pike County Correctional Facility for 3 to 12 months, and ordered to pay a fine of $300, for the crime of Retail Theft.
    On August 29, 2012, Hambrick entered the Wal Mart in Westfall Township; he selected 45 food items valued at $627.31, placed them in grocery bags, and then exited the store without paying.
    Tammy L. Kenowsky, age 42, of Hawley, was sentenced to a State correctional facility for 1 to 5 years, and ordered to pay a fine of $2,500, for the crime of Driving Under the Influence.
    On August 4, 2012, Kenowsky was stopped on Route 6 in Palmyra Township for suspended registration, at the time of the stop she was found to be intoxicated, and she refused a blood test.
    Brianna E. Morgan, age 21, of Honesdale, was sentenced to the Pike County Correctional Facility for 1 to 12 months, and ordered to pay a fine of $535, for the crimes of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving while Operating Privilege is Suspended, and Exceeding Max Speed Limit.
    On September 9, 2013, Morgan was stopped in Palmyra Township for speeding. At the time of the stop Morgan was found to be driving without a license, and in possession of a controlled substance.
    Joseph A. Nestasia, age 52, of Greentown, was sentenced to 18 months of probation, ordered to pay a fine of $600, and ordered to pay restitution, for the crime of Bad Checks.
    Page 2 of 3 - In the spring of 2013, Nestasia wrote four bad checks to a commercial food service as payment for food for his business.
    Rolf K. Newnam, age 33, of Milford, was sentenced to the Pike County Correctional Facility for 6 to 23 months, followed by 3 years of probation, is ordered to pay a fine of $200, and is ordered to pay restitution, for the crime of Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition.
    From 2012 through 2013 Newman, who was employed at a store in Milford, where it's estimated he stole over $45,000. Newnam would keep the money from cash sales, and then edit the store inventory to reflect a sale.
    Richard M. Ohaus, age 22, of Dingmans Ferry, was sentenced to the Pike County Correctional Facility for 1 to 6 months, and ordered to pay a fine of $500, for the crime of Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition.
    On June 10, 2011, Ohaus was employed at the Hilltop Xtramart in Milford where he stole $85 worth of scratch off lottery tickets, and $135 in cash.
    Jason N. Phillips, age 27, of Huguenot, N.Y. was sentenced to the Pike County Correctional Facility for 72 hours to 6 months, and ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, for the crime of Driving Under the Influence.
    On January 15, 2012, Phillips, was caught driving the wrong way under the over pass in Port Jervis, NY by the Port Jervis Police, but Phillips did not stop until he was in Pennsylvania. He had a blood alcohol content of .191%.
    Luis F. Rivera, age 32, of Patterson, N.J. was sentenced to a State correctional facility for 12 to 30 months and ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, for the crimes of Delivery of a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance, and Criminal Conspiracy.
    On April 2, 2013, Rivera assisted in driving his co-defendant to Pike County from Paterson New Jersey to deliver Heroin.
    Dillon R. Sullivan, age 19, of Hawley, was sentenced to a State correctional facility for 8 to 24 months and is ordered to pay a fine of $500, for the crimes of Burglary.
    On May 8, 2012, Sullivan broke into a home located in the Escape in Greene Township; where he attempted to steal a flat screen television, but was unable to remove it from the wall.
    Luis E. Candelario, age 20, of Port Jervis, N.Y. was sentenced to a State correctional facility for 14 to 28 months, and is ordered to pay a fine of $750, for the crime of Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition.
    Page 3 of 3 - On June 4, 2012, Candelario stole a Mercury Mountaineer from the victim's yard in Matamoras.
