The Browndale Fire Company is celebrating 100 years of service to the community in 2013.

To honor this event, they are hosting the Northeastern Pennsylvania Volunteer Firemen’s Federation Convention on Friday, Sept. 6 and Saturday, Sept. 7 at the fire station located at 620 Marion Street, Route 247 in Browndale.
On Friday evening, starting at 7:30 p.m., delegates from the various fire departments in the northeast will be attending the opening ceremonies which include convention agenda items, a main speaker and hospitality from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.
The community is invited to attend the hospitality evening by purchasing a booster button for $3 either prior to Friday evening or on Friday evening. The booster button includes refreshments.
Saturday includes convention agenda items beginning at 9 a.m. at the station and apparatus judging from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Karti Building (former Shoe Factory), Delaware Street, Forest City.
The Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will conduct their business meeting at Christ Episcopal Church (corner of Dundaff and Delaware Streets) beginning at 9 a.m. and followed by a Memorial Service, open to the public, at 11 a.m. at the Church.
A luncheon will be available at the church for the Ladies Auxiliary and anyone else wanting to attend. Tickets are $9 and can be purchased by contacting Juliann Doyle.
A parade will start at Kartri Sales and continue to the Browndale Fire Station on Saturday, with lineup starting at 1:30 p.m. and the parade kicking off at 2:30.
