So you might be thinking by now, ok these blogs are nice and all, but I'm kind of nervous to begin changing my lifestyle. I don't know if I have it in me. I've never exercised before. What is an acorn squash? Changing for the better can be tough, actually, changing at all can be tough. Let's look at some ways to help motivate us to begin on the path to better living.





      1. Change your mind. Instead of “I'm not sure” say “Yes I can”. Instead of “That's impossible” “Say, I can absolutely do that”. By changing your mind and staying positive, you will be able to accomplish anything!





      2. Write down why you are going to change and post it somewhere you see it EVERYDAY. To lower my blood pressure, to help with stress, to get fit, to keep up with my kids. These are all perfect reasons to get started.





      3. You don't have to go hardcore all at once. Try a new vegetable every week. Make each day a different color. By this we mean pick a different color of vegetable and eat that on a set day during the week. Monday can be red with peppers and apples. Tuesday can be purple with eggplant. Wednesday could be green with broccoli, celery, kale, etc. You also can try a new exercise each week. One week walk for 5-10 minutes everyday. The next week try biking. Or if you are involved in a gym, try a new machine everyday. It doesn't matter how long you start for. Just start, if you get 5 minutes in, that's great! Work your way up to 30 – 60 minutes each day.If you think this may not work, make a chart to track your progress instead. When you hit that 8 glasses of water for the day, give yourself a gold star. Keep it in a place you can see it (like maybe the fridge) and when you see your chart full of gold stars, you will DEFINITELY feel great. It shows how much work you've done.





      4. Celebrate every little thing. You walked 5 minutes today, give yourself a pat on the back and a “Woohoo! I just did that!” The next week when you've gone farther, celebrate the difference in the week, last week you only did 5 minutes/day, this week you did 7 minutes!! That is worth shouting about!
