Well, recent event might be a bigger term than needed, but it comes after a local weatherman was giving the seven day forecast the other night.
That in itself isn't anything exciting or what have you, but it is the cause behind this topic: when seasons ACTUALLY end.
We all know that most schools started the new school year this week and we all know that overall, it's been a really warm week.
Which is what brings me to my point: just because school starts, doesn't mean summer ends.
Sure, summer vacation may be over for those going back to school, but that's about as far as it comes. I had to laugh when the weatherman was talking about how warm it was going to be all week and how "it still feels like summer."
Well of course it still feels like summer, silly, because it IS still summer.
In fact it's still summer until September 22. Then fall won't even 'officially' end until December 21.
You would think that a weatherman would know that...but I guess that's too much.
A lot of people (although it seems like most) seem to forget that summer still goes on while their child is starting school. We all went through it actually, unless in some really odd circumstance you didn't start school until after September 22. I remember in middle school we were all excited because we could still wear shorts to school.
Again, because it was still summer!
Sure the fall weather will be starting before we know it (hell we even had a few fall-feeling-days already), but the fact remains that summer is still here, at least for a few more weeks.
So yes, I will continue to laugh when people say something to the effect of "well it still feels like summer," until September 23.
Until then, I will enjoy the rest of my summer.
