This free lecture on communicating with your healthcare professional will improve the health consumers’ ability to be prepared for a medical appointment, gain skills to improve the dialogue between them and their doctor (to get answers to their questions) and help the individual find reliable information for more medical questions.
The www.MedlinePlus.gov website will be utilized as an example of a credible resource for objective medical information and participants will learn how to navigate the site to research a medical question.
Handouts for home reference will be shared and a “medication pocket pal” (in English and Spanish) will be distributed to help participants keep track of medications. The National Institute on Aging booklet entitled “Talking with Your Doctor” will also be available.
The Caregiver program is made possible through a partnership between Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Office for the Aging in Sullivan County.
