The Big Rig Truck Pull and Diesel Pickup Pull is coming to the Wayne County Fair.

The event will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 5 at the main grandstands. General admission to the fair will get you into the event.

There are two classes of diesel pickups, said Jim Fox, entertainment chairman of the Wayne County Fair Board.

For the semis, they are all in one class, he said.

"They are supposed to be street legal," said Fox.

The events are just like any other pull in which a sled is hooked to the vehicle and weight move forward as it goes down the track.

A full pull is considered 300 feet or longer, he said.

Fox said the event is a crowd favorite.

"They really come out for this," said Fox. "The grandstands will be full."

Generally, Fox said there are around 15 to 20 semis which participate and 65 or more pickups.

A lot of the entrants are from the local area but there are also entrants from New York and New Jersey.

Cash prizes and trophies are awarded in the various categories, said Fox.

Fox said this event is annually one of the most popular at the Wayne County Fair. He said the pickup trucks are especially popular, including among the competitors.

"The guys with the pickups really get into it," he said.

This year, the event is sponsored by RTS Truck Center.
