 — A Beach Lake woman pleaded guilty July 12 to five counts of cruelty to animals and 30 counts of failure to have rabies vaccinations for her cats.

Barbara Lovas was fined $250 plus court costs for the animal cruelty charges and was fined $30 plus costs for the rabies violations.

These violations and charges stemmed from a search warrant served at her residence back in May by Humane Officer Marlene Metzger and Dog Warden Rickert.

Lovas had surrendered more than 50 of her cats at a prior hearing.

"Many cats are still at Dessin and doing very well. Some of them are ready for adoption now," stated Metzger.
