  • — Don Kaszner, long-time visitor to and later resident of Equinunk, will display his artful photographs of the surrounding area on Art Appreciation Day, July 28, at the Equinunk Historical Society.
Formerly a detective sergeant in the Bergen County (N.J.) Sheriff's Office, Kaszner learned his photographic techniques and other skills through training with the FBI. Though now fully retired, Don continues to receive requests from New Jersey law enforcement units to share his expertise.
A frequent visitor to Equinunk and Lordville in the 1950s, he began photographing the buildings and scenes he encountered.
He has continued to add to his portfolio in the intervening years. Every structure was game for his lens, from mansions to farmhouses, schools to outhouses. This will be his third showing at EHS, over the three decades of its existence.
Art Appreciation Day always coincides with the Equinunk Fireman's Barbecue.
Visitors may visit the firehouse, walk to the Calder House Museum and Calder Corner Gift Shop, and return to the barbecue without moving their cars. Museum doors open at noon.
The Museum is located at the junction of Route 191 (the Hancock Highway) and Pine Mill Road in the center of Equinunk. Call 570-224-6722 for further information.
