From day to day, you never know what is going to be in the news.
Some days, the news is about crime or accidents or court cases.
Other days, there are a lot of positive things which make up the news.
Today is the latter.
Our front page today is filled with what many people would consider "good" news from around the area.
Our stories include the upcoming antiques show which will mark its 51st year in Honesdale. It is presented by the Honesdale Women's Club.
Also today, we have a story about how people can participate in "backyard science" events to learn more about nature and such.
We also have a story about the very popular "peddle pull" at the Wayne County Fair and another story about Waystock which is set for the end of this month in Waymart.
All of these are very important and fun events happening in and around Wayne County.
This time of year, the outdoors is bustling with happenings and local residents are eager to take advantage of these opportunities.
All of the events listed above are family oriented happenings. That is the key to a lot of things which take place in Wayne County during the summer.
We are now in the heart of the summer season in this area and now is the time for everyone to get out and enjoy the variety of events which take place.
You might want to take in a concert somewhere in the area or simply go to Prompton State Park and cast a line.
The possibilities are endless.
Maybe you just want to find an area waterfall and hang out in the sun. (If the rain ever stops!)
Or maybe it's a trip to the sawmill in Equinunk which is now open. (See the story on page 8.)
You might just want to jump in your vehicle and take a country drive. There are plenty of opportunities to travel the country roads and take in the beauty of this region.
And then there are the more traditional events like Waystock and the Wayne County Fair.
These are very organized events and provide great entertainment for everyone who attends.
We've been trying very hard to get out information about these events and we hope it piques your interest enough to make you attend.
Events like these are what makes living in this region worth suffering through the winters. There are almost daily opportunities to get out and enjoy the great outdoors in the Pocono Mountains region.
So get out there and find something fun to do — it will be an enjoyable time.
