Annual event is a big draw

— It's one of the most popular events at the Wayne County Fair.

The Kid's Pedal Pull brings in the kids obviously, but it also is a big draw for adults who take in the intense action.

"We get quite a cheering section out there," said Jim Fox, entertainment chairman of the fair board.

This year, the event is scheduled for 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 5 at the fairgrounds.

"It's a little mini-tractor pull," said Fox.

There are four classes in the event for children up to age 10.

A small sled is attached to a pedal tractor for all of the contestants.

Persons don't have a preregister and just need to get there at around 4:30 p.m. to be entered.

Fox said around 40 contestants participated last year with a big crowd in the grandstands.

An announcement will be made to begin registration for the event. It is for boys and girls alike, he said.

The event will last about an hour.

The fair board gives out ribbons and trophies to the top placers in the event. There is no registration fee.
