  • Next time you’re using a router on narrow boards and want to prevent the tool from rocking (such as when creating an inside rabbet, as shown here), try this tip from Club member Erwin Cohen of Orlando, Florida. Cut a small wooden heel the same thickness as the workpiece and mount it to the baseplate of the router. Because of the added thickness of the heel, you’ll need to replace the plate mounting screw you choose as an attachment point with a longer screw of the same diameter. Be sure to countersink the screw; then sand the sliding surface of the heel smooth and buff it with wax. Brought to you by: American Profile
