- The brother of the Wayne County District Attorney was arrested Wednesday, charged with stealing from his sister and father.
Gregory John Edwards, 34, of Honesdale, the brother of District Attorney Janine Edwards, was arraigned at the Wayne County Courthouse by Magistrate District Judge Ted Mikulak for charges of theft by unlawful taking and criminal trespass, where he stole from his father Paul Edwards and Janine Edwards.
According to court documents there are two cases filed against Gregory Edwards. Both occurred between May 1 and June 6.
The affidavit of probable cause said that on June 7, Janine Edwards contacted Pennsylvania State Police for the purpose of filing a complaint against Gregory Edwards for making unauthorized purchases at the Dirlam Brothers building center.
Janine Edwards told police that the purchases were made on her credit account to the sum of "approximately $400."
In this case, Gregory Edwards was charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition, a misdemeanor 1.
According to the affidavit of probable cause for the second case, Paul Edwards went to the station at PSP Honesdale on June 7 for the purpose of filing a complaint against Gregory Edwards for making unauthorized purchases on his credit account at Dirlam Brothers building center.
Paul Edwards said Gregory Edwards is his son and told police the purchases on his account were to the sum of "approximately $700."
On June 7 from 1:40 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. Paul Edwards had a "lengthy text message conversation" with his son, at which time Gregory Edwards was requesting to come to Paul's residence at 221 Kellows Road, Oregon Township, to talk to him in person.
The messages went from a request to meet Paul Edwards at his house, to a demand to meet Paul Edwards. Paul Edwards told police he told Gregory Edwards "several times" through the texts that Gregory Edwards "was not welcomed" at his residence and actually instructed him not to come.
Around 6:30 p.m. that evening, Gregory Edwards, "along with two male friends," appeared at Paul Edwards' property after already being told he wasn't wanted.
