— Lacawac Sanctuary will offer an afternoon enrichment workshop for outdoor photography enthusiasts and aspiring outdoor photographers led by noted photographer and image artists Mike Burnside and Philip Dente.
The program is scheduled for Saturday, June 15, starting with a 1 p.m. and a light lunch. Reservations required by June 12.
This photography workshop is directed primarily at expanding your ability to "see" photographically rather than at how to use your camera.
Technical issues regarding camera settings will be discussed in the context of enabling you to capture what you see. They will look at and discuss other photographers' work and what is meant by learning to see photographically, and then apply what you have learned in the field by photographing around the site.
Each participant will be asked to share a limited number of their own images to receive a critique with the moderators and others in the group.
Lacawac Sanctuary is a non-profit community based organization dedicated to preservation of the natural environment, public environmental education and scientific research.
It is supported by volunteers, memberships and donations. The 545 acre nature preserve includes one mile of shoreline on Lake Wallenpaupack and is one of the few sites nationwide that is federally recognized as both a National Natural Landmark and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The public is invited to visit Lacawac to hike and explore its various nature trails and to participate in the numerous educational and outdoor programs offered on the site.
