  •  - A Honesdale man faces charges following a traffic accident last week.
    On May 31 around 10:15 a.m. Joseph Juice, 39 of Honesdale was traveling northbound on Church Street in his 2008 Volkswagen, when he left the roadway and collided with a legally parked 2003 Subaru.
    According to the Honesdale Borough Police Department, the Subaru was parked on the left side of the roadway and was unoccupied. When hit, the Subaru was pushed toward the Rodgers-Olver-Polley Insurance building.
    Juice was the only occupant and received minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
    According to police, Juice exhibited signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Assisting at the scene were Honesdale Fire Police and Honesdale Fire Department.
    Charges of DUI and related traffic offenses are pending.
    Crash
    On May 30 at 5:15 p.m. a crash occurred on Owego Turnpike in Canaan Township, just east of Davitt Road.
    A report from the Pennsylvania State Police said that the driver of a 2008 Toyota Highlander was traveling east on Owego Turnpike and the driver of a 2005 Mack CV Series was traveling west, with the driver of a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser behind them.
    For unknown reasons the Toyota crossed into the westbound lane and impacted the left front of the Mack. The impact caused the Toyota to rotate counter-clockwise and cross back into the westbound lane, where it impacted the left front of the Chrysler with the right side of the vehicle.
    The report said that the Toyota came to rest in the ditch on the north side of the roadway facing north. The Mack came to rest across both lanes of travel facing south.
    The drivers of the Toyota and Chrysler suffered injuries and were transported by Waymart Ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital. All the vehicles were towed from the scene.
    DUI
    On May 19 around 2:36 a.m. Honesdale Borough Police observed a vehicle, driven by James Rosler, 34 of Honesdale, speeding on Sunrise Avenue.
    A traffic stop was conducted. Rosler exhibited signs of being under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI. Charges of DUI and speeding were filed and a court appearance is forthcoming.
    Attempted burglary
    On June 1 the Honesdale Borough Police investigated an attempted burglary at a residence on Watts Hill Road.
    It was determined that sometime between May 30 and June an unknown person(s) attempted to pry their way into the garage located on the property.
