While it won't be quite the same without jailer, Dick Kreitner to kick things off, his legacy lives on with the opening of the Old Stone Jail for the Summer 2013 season. Saturday, June 1, is opening day for tours of the Old Stone Jail.
The hours will be 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., the first Saturday of the month, June through (and including) October. It is free to get in (but donations are always appreciated) and the docents promise to leave the door open so everyone can get back out again.
The Old Stone Jail is located between the Courthouse and 10th street. Many thanks to the Wayne County Commissioners for their permission and the work of the wonderful volunteers who keep this piece of Honesdale History open for tours.
