Auxiliary members and prospective members are invited to the dinner, which begins at 6 p.m.
Scheinman will discuss Wayne Memorial Hospital’s association with Commonwealth Medical College, which granted its first Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees on May 11.
Before becoming dean of the region’s first and only medical school last fall, Scheinman served as dean of SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, N.Y., for eight years. He was a professor of medicine and pharmacology at Upstate for nearly 30 years, and for a decade served as chief of the nephrology division in the department of medicine.
He earned international prominence for his research on the genetics of inherited kidney disease and kidney stones.
A gubernatorial appointee to the New York State Council on Graduate Medical Education, Scheinman has served on a number of national medical education boards.
