- Throw some practice pitches and get ready to dunk a local celebrity for a good cause.
Hedgey & Iggy Events will be hosting a local celebrity dunk tank this Sunday. "Raffle tickets are $5 for three balls to dunk a local celebrity," said Public Relations Coordinator for H&I Events Tess Hoffman.
The raffle tickets also provide an entry to win a 2013 Dodge Dart SE. "We will draw the winner at the spring kickball tournament held on Memorial Day weekend," she said. You need not be present to win.
The proceeds from the ticket sales will go to benefit the Wayne County Emergency Food Pantry. "This is the second year we are donating to the Wayne County Emergency Food Pantry," she said. "We're hoping to raise a great sum of money for them."
The dunk tank, donated by Rent-E-Quip, will be located at the Fred Miller Pavilion on Main Street in Honesdale. The booth will be open on Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 19 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The star-studded line up for Saturday is:
• Marty Robbins, retired state trooper, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.
• Mayor Ed Langendoerfer, 11a.m. - 12 p.m.
• Greg Little, Wayne Independent Editor, 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
• Jamie Schultz, DA Investigator, Joelee Motichka, Rent-a-quip, 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.
• Alison Foster Brown, Tick Tocks, 3 p.m. -5 p.m.
The line-up of dunkees for Sunday is currently tentative, but Hoffman promises to have more local celebrities braving the booth including Ray Harrington of R3 Hardware.
DJ Nicky Nick will be providing the music for both days of the event.
Registration is still open for the spring kickball tournament. "We have 10 teams registered now," she said, but will accept entries until May 23. The registration fee is $125 per team.
There are also many people to thank for making this event possible.
"The entire H & I Events Team owes much gratitude to many in our community," she said. "Many thanks to Joelee Motichka and Rent-a-Equip, The Honesdale Borough, The Honesdale National Bank, The Wayne County Farmers Market, Dave's Super Duper, R3 Hardware, Primo's Pizza, B & B Dodge, Pioneer Construction, The Wayne Independent newspaper for their ongoing support in getting our event news out to the community."
Page 2 of 2 - Hoffman would also like to applaud "those individuals who volunteer their time again and again to help make our events successful. It is truly amazing what we can do when we all come together. In times such as Super Storm Sandy we realize how much organizations such as the food pantry, need our ongoing support. Although we do not like to think it could happen again, there is always a storm around the corner, lets be prepared and give to those that give back!"
About H & I Events
H & I Events has been doing kick ball Tournaments since 2007. At first, they only did one tournament a year. However, the community needs grew and their commitment to help prospered, leading to two kickball tournaments a year, one in the spring and another in the fall.
The fall tournament is dedicated to the Ted Wallingford Scholarship Fund, which goes to a Honesdale High School student. This was made to commemorate one of H & I Event's dear friend and fallen kickball star, Ted Wallingford.
The Spring Tournament, always held on Memorial Day Weekend, has been dedicated to a local cause in need.
