LAKE ARIEL — On Sunday, May 5, Stephen Volpe of Lake Ariel passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack.
He was 37 years old and the sole breadwinner for Stacy, his 17-year partner in life and their four adopted children.
The unexpected death of such a young man is always an unimaginable tragedy for the family, but Steve owned his own business, so his passing leaves his family not only without him, but without an income as well.
They desperately need help paying the bills while they adjust to life without the man they relied on to support them in so many ways.
To help, Steve's extended family and friends are putting together an emergency benefit for his grief-stricken family.
The event will be held at the Lake Ariel Fire Hall on Route 191 Saturday, May 18 from 3 to 8 p.m. A $10 donation will get you in the door and a shot at a door prize.
There will be a full buffet dinner, a D.J. as well as a live acoustic band and lots of raffles.
For those who can't attend but would like to help, donations for the Steve's family may be sent to Stacy Boehmer care of Ralph Boehmer, brother of the family, at 96 O'Connell Rd., Waymart PA 18427.
