Media outlets are reporting that police officials confirmed that the Boston Marathon bombing suspects were planning to go to Times Square in New York and detonate more bombs.
Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev hijacked a car last Thursday night with the intent of driving to New York to plant the bombs, officials said. Their plan was thwarted when the owner of the hijacked car escaped and alerted police. That led to a shootout that left Tamerlan dead and Dzhokhar hospitalized. Dzhokhar apparently told officials of the plans from his hospital bed.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Thursday, "Last night we were informed by the FBI that the surviving attacker revealed that New York City was next on their list of targets."
